going on. In summer, pick up the

), with entertainment info and
practical listings, both
available from the tourist
office. If you're here during
university term-time, you might
want to check the noticeboards
at the university as well. Free
concerts are held regularly
in the Parc des Contades and
Parc de l'Orangerie, which also
boasts a 24-lane bowling alley.
The best of the annual festivals
starts with music from around
the world in mid-June, followed
by jazz in July, and
contemporary world music in
mid-September and early October.
In addition, there's Les
Nuits de Strasbourg , a
firework, light and music
display at the Ponts Couverts
during July and August; and, on
July 14, a fireworks display and
street entertainment. At the Marché
de Noël (end Nov to Dec
24), an annual event for over
400 years, you can buy tree
decorations, gifts, crafts,
sweets and Alsatian Christmas
cookies, bredele .
