routes. The Sienese
bus company is
called TRA-IN -
don't confuse its
name or logo for
anything to do with
trains! Lazzi or TRA-IN
run roughly
half-hourly to
Poggibonsi, where
you must change for
San Gimignano (buy a
through ticket), and
half-a-dozen times
daily to Montalcino
and Montepulciano.
Note that some buses
to the hill-towns
south of Siena now
depart from the
train station, not
from Piazza Gramsci.
Lazzi and SITA also
run regularly to
Florence (take an
express), and to
Massa Marittima,
Volterra and Rome.

the duomo, just
inside the Porta
Tufi and Porta San
Marco respectively.

city gates is free.

permitted to drive
through the old town
alleys only in order
to check in at their
hotel.
